Dear Reader,

All SFP optical transceivers look alike.  Tiny labels usually provide only cryptic vendor part numbers.

What's the rate?  OC3? GigE? 100FX?
What's the wavelength?  850nm? 1310nm? 1471nm?
Long range?  Short range?

And more fundamentally, is the SFP working?

The SFP Check provides all this information - and can save tens of thousands of dollars by salvaging loose SFPs and eliminating hours of time when diagnosing problems.

SFP Reader and Testing Device

The SFP Check's cable plugs into a laptop/PC.  Self-contained programming (there's no need to load software) displays vital information such as:
  • Wavelength
  • Type
  • Range
  • Datecode
  • Temperature
  • Voltage
  • Transmit and Receive levels

And, during circuit turn-up or maintenance, the SFP Check can be used as a basic optical power meter to verify proper receive levels.

Because the SFP Check is powered by the USB interface and temperature hardened, it's ideal for lab, CO or OSP use.
