OE: 10/100BT Ethernet over SONET OC3
There is no need to wait for a ubiquitous Ethernet network before offering Ethernet services to small or mid sized customers. The OE allows you to minimize capital expenditure, minimize installation time, and minimize training time, without losing the ability to grow your network.
The OE acts as a straight-through, Ethernet pipe and therefore does not duplicate the switching and routing functions performed by the end equipment. This ensures minimal delay - often the most critical performance criteria.
The OE, like all Pulsecom Access products, is self-contained and functionally optimized for service. There are no systems or common cards or software to stock, install and turn-up. Everything is accomplished in one module. And as your needs grow, the architecture permits modules to be replaced or added eliminating reliance upon "platform capabilities". Pulsecom's patent pending "Optionless SONET" also eliminates the need for OC3/OC48 provisioning making turn-up fast and easy. Since this is true SONET, the network side of the fiber link can be integrated directly into a SONET mux. Pulsecom modules incorporate modular optics, so 1310nm wavelengths, single fiber transceivers, or CWDM transceivers can be selected on a site-by-site basis or easily changed to improve facility utilization.
Applications:
- Cell Site Access – provides higher capacity and provides the network with optical isolation from lightning hits
Metro Ethernet Service Delivery
- LAN extensions between buildings

Features:
Jumbo frame support and minimal delay - Support evolving network needs
Standard NCTE form factor - The OE can often be installed in existing widely deployed Type 200 or Type 400 shelves, or it can be installed in one of Pulsecom's housings for rack, wall or DLC RTs or a locking CPE enclosure.
Minimal CAP EX - Stand alone design means no systems or common cards. One module is all you need.
Efficient fiber usage - Modular optics enable you to maximize your transport options: 1310/1550nm, bidirectional single fiber, multimode and CWDM transceivers.
Pulsecom “Optionless SONET” patent pending - Eliminates the need for OC3 provisioning making turn-up fast and easy.
+/-24 of -48VDC powering - The OE can be powered by +/-24VDC (typical in cell site environments) or -48VDC (the standard telco voltage).
Plug-and-play migration - Gigabit Ethernet, DS1 and DS3 services can be added simply by adding or replacing a module.
